Custom White Fry Paper

Custom White Fry Paper
★★★★★ 4.9 Customer Satisfaction Score

White fry paper exists for one reason most operators care about more than they admit: the print. Grease resistance is the floor. Every fry paper has to clear it. What separates a wrap that reads as a brand from one that reads as a napkin is the surface the ink lands on, and a bright white base is where colour shows up exactly as designed. Custom Printed Papers prints white fry paper for brands that lead with logo, colour, and a clean look across the USA and Canada, alongside the rest of the custom fry paper range.

White fry paper is a bleached, greaseproof sheet built for full-colour printing on fried-food packaging. The white base reflects light evenly, so logos and brand colours reproduce at true saturation. It blocks oil the same as kraft, but prints with the clarity kraft cannot reach.

Why colour reads better on a white base

Ink does not sit on top of paper as its own colour. It mixes with whatever shows through from underneath. On brown kraft, that brown shifts every ink toward a muddy, muted version of itself. A bright yellow lands closer to mustard. A sky blue turns grey-green. On white, there is nothing underneath to interfere, so the ink prints as the file specifies.

Printers know this well enough that to get any vivid colour onto kraft, they first lay down a white ink underbase, then print over it. White fry paper skips that step entirely. The base is already white, so a four-colour logo, a gradient, or a photographic print all run clean without workarounds, extra plates, or colour-matching headaches.

When white fry paper is the right call

Reach for white when the brand is built on colour and detail. A multi-colour logo, a bright brand palette, fine text, a mascot, or any design with gradients needs a white base to survive printing. Modern quick-service and franchise brands almost always specify white for exactly this reason: their identity depends on colour matching across every touchpoint, and the wrap is one of them.

White also signals clean. A crisp white sheet under a fried portion reads as hygienic and considered, where a brown sheet reads as casual or rustic. Neither is wrong. It comes down to the impression the brand wants the moment a customer looks down at their food.

White, kraft, or newsprint — choosing the look

The three bases are the same paper underneath. They differ entirely in appearance and what they say about a brand. White is for clean, modern, colour-accurate branding. Kraft is for natural, rustic, eco-positioned brands running bold single-colour logos. Newsprint is for retro, street-food, chip-shop character.

If a design has more than two colours, gradients, or photographic detail, white is usually the only base that does it justice. For the rustic route, see kraft fry paper. For the classic chip-shop style, see newsprint fry paper.

Does the white base change performance?

No. Bleaching changes the colour of the pulp, not the way the paper handles grease or heat. White fry paper takes the same greaseproof, wax, PE, or silicone finish as any other base, and it blocks oil to the same Kit Rating. A customer wrapping fish in white fry paper gets identical grease holdout to kraft, with a sharper print on the outside.

One honest note: the bleaching process can leave white stock marginally less rigid than unbleached kraft at the same weight. For fry paper at normal service weights, the difference is not something a kitchen will ever notice. It only matters at the extremes of heavy, wet loads, where a half-step up in GSM closes the gap.

Setting up artwork for white fry paper

White is the forgiving base. Thin lines hold, light tints stay visible, and small type prints legibly where it would disappear on brown. Build artwork in CMYK or specify exact PMS Pantone colours, and supply vector files for the cleanest result. A logo that needed simplifying to work on kraft can run in full detail here, which is the whole point of choosing white.

    FAQ

Is white fry paper greaseproof? Yes. It blocks oil to the same Kit Rating as kraft. Only the base colour differs.

Will my full-colour logo print accurately? Yes. The white base reflects light evenly, so CMYK and Pantone colours reproduce true.

Is white fry paper food-safe and PFAS-free? Yes. It meets FDA 21 CFR 176.170, prints with inks under 21 CFR 175.300, and uses PFAS-free grease resistance.

White or kraft for my brand? White for vivid, multi-colour, modern branding. Kraft for rustic, single-colour, eco-positioned looks.
