The coating chemistry is selected for the tray: polyester coatings bond to PET and survive heat; polyolefin coatings suit PP. Run the wrong pairing and seals are weak or inconsistent across a batch. Peelable or weld for your product
The seal type follows how the pack is used. A peelable lid suits a yoghurt, a ready meal, or a dip the customer opens by hand. A permanent weld suits a pack that must stay sealed until cut or punctured, or where tamper-resistance leads. Ovenable, microwaveable, and frozen-ready
Lidding grades match the product’s journey. Polyester coatings on PET or CPET trays withstand ovenable and retort heat for heat-and-eat meals. Other grades suit microwave reheating, and freezer-safe grades stay sealed and flexible at low temperatures. The coating and tray pair is chosen for the temperatures the meal will see.
A frozen ready meal that is reheated in its tray needs a lid that survives the freezer and the oven or microwave without delaminating or failing. Retort and ovenable applications in particular need high-temperature polyester coatings on heat-stable trays.
